Description

Motifs lifted from the Art Deco period are combined to create a lively texture across this asymmetric shawl in two sizes (petite/tall), meant to be worked in a shimmery yarn blend. While the visual effect is complex, the patterns are simple to work, relying on the tension of cable crosses to pull the ribbing back and forth; light and dark areas are the result of shifting fabric density. This design is worked in one piece from beginning to end and is easily resized.

   
Suggested Yarns: Modern Deco Sport, Better Breakfast Fingering, Chebris Lace, Ginny Sport, Hempshaugh Fingering, Finn Dandy 3-ply Sport, or any fingering yarn blend with a soft hand that knits to pattern gauge 
   
Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement.

56(70) inches across top edge and 32(42) inches along bind off edge

Gauge: 
22 sts and 31 rows = 4 inches in stockinette on smaller needle (unwashed, unblocked)

Needles: size 6US (4.0 mm) for shawl body (or size to obtain correct gauge)size 7US (4.5 mm) for hem (or .5 mm larger than gauge needle)
