This dark shade of purple is one of 36 separate shades of purple we sell. Said to represent royalty, spirituality, mystery, and imagination purple was historically hugely labor intensive to make. Requiring thousands of mollusks to produce, the piles of shells discarded during the manufacturing process were so large they have become geographical features along the eastern coast of the Mediterranean.
