This pretty asymmetrical crescent shawl in two sizes (petite/tall) begins at the hem with a combination of wavy motifs to show off a self-striping or gradient yarn. The body is worked in a series of short row sections with inserts of eyelet to emulate the water’s surface as it laps against the shore. A foamy edging trims the longer side so that the piece will show a variety of frills when worn at any angle. The stitch patterns throughout are very easy to work, lulling the knitter into a gentle working rhythm; a great project for both experienced knitters and those new to lace. Suggested Yarns: Modern Deco Lace, Better Breakfast Fingering, Stone Soup Fingering, Shetlandia Fingering, or any silky fingering yarn that knits to pattern gauge. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size and drape.

Finished Size: 72(84) inches around hem edge and 24(32) inches in depth at wide edge

Yarn Requirements: 375(800) yards

Gauge: 22 sts and 48 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch (knit every row) on smaller needles (unblocked)

Needles: 
size 6US (4.0 mm) for body or size to obtain correct gaugesize 7US (4.5 mm) for hem, or .5 mm larger than body needle
