Cardigan Sock knitting pattern

Description

A top-down sock with a rich, knit/purl diamond motif extending down the entire heel in back and to the toe on top.

Worked in a heavier sock or sport yarn (as shown), it will be sized to fit a man’s foot; in lighter-weight yarns on smaller needles, it will be slimmer to fit a female foot.

Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement.

Finished Size:
sock circumference = 9.5” to fit feet up to 10.5”/8.25” in lighter yarn to fit feet up to 9.5”

Yarn Requirements:
375 yards of heavy sock or sport-weight yarn for men’s medium (socks with total foot length of more than 11 inches will require more yardage)
400 yards of lighter-weight sock yarn for the narrower sock

Gauge:
28 sts and 40 rows = 4” in heavier yarn; 32 sts and 44 rows = 4” in lighter-weight yarn

Needles:
DPNs size 1 (2.25mm)
